Most of them don't, one does. For the Share Savings Account, you'll need to keep at least $50 on deposit to avoid a $5 service fee; otherwise, our savings account have no required minimum balance to avoid fees.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to start saving and strengthen your finances. For the Share Savings Account and Kids Account, all it takes is a $5 deposit to open the accounts. For Holiday Savings and Member's Choice, you'll need to deposit at least $25.

Yes, a joint owner can make changes and close a checking/savings account without primary consent, but a joint owner cannot close a membership.
How can I add a new joint owner to my account?
We will need current identification for all owners and a subsequent action form needs to be completed by all account owners.
Does the joint owner need to be present to be added?
Yes, a joint owner needs to be present. If you request documentation via phone, the joint owner will need to provide their signature to be added.
Is there a credit check when I add a joint owner?
Yes, a soft credit pull is done for all members applying for a membership.
Can I add a joint owner to any type of account?
A joint owner can be added to all accounts, except for IRA ac-counts.
Will removing a joint owner affect my account history?
No, removing a joint owner will not affect any account history.
A beneficiary on an account is the person designated to receive the funds in the account in the event of the account holder’s death. It helps ensure the money goes directly to that person without going through probate.
Is it required to have a beneficiary on my account?
No, this is something that is optional.
How can I add a beneficiary to my account?
A subsequent action form needs to be completed and signed. We will need the beneficiary’s personal information like Name, DOB, Social Security Number (if possible), Address, Phone Number. Branch or Member Service representatives can assist with providing these forms. An appointment can be scheduled for either of these options at https://www.cutx.org/schedule-an-appointment
Can I add a minor as a beneficiary?
Yes.
Can I update a beneficiary’s information if something changes?
This is highly recommended.
Do I need to notify the beneficiary when I add them?
No, you’re not required to notify the beneficiary when you add them. However, it’s often a good idea to let them know, especially so they’re aware of your wishes and can be prepared if needed.
Will the beneficiary have access to view my account once added?
No, beneficiaries will not have any access to your account information, only in the event of the account holder passing. Supporting documentation will need to be provided before obtaining any information.
Can I open an account online or do I have to visit a branch ?

- Your account can be closed by the two methods below:
- Visit a branch or call in to speak with one of our Member Services representative. An appointment can be made for either option by visiting https://www.cutx.org/schedule-an-appointment
- Provide a written request sent via regular mail to PO BOX 7000 Allen TX 75013 or email to help@cutx.org
- The written request will need to include First and Last Name, Member Number, Request: Example: I would like to close my account, and have the remaining funds sent to (address). Wet Signature & Current Date (We don’t accept digital signatures), and an Up-dated Driver License/ID
Any direct deposits or automatic payments will be returned once the account is closed. Please ensure that you update your account information with the appropriate companies so they can process payments to the correct account.
What if I have pending transactions when I close my account?
All transactions must be posted at the time of closing. We would have to wait until all transactions have posted to be able to complete the request.
Can I close a joint account if the other person is not present?
Yes, a primary account holder can close a membership at any time.
What should I do if my account was closed due to inactivity or over-draft?
If your account was closed due to inactivity, if it was left in good standing (no negative balance) you can reapply for a new account at any time. If your account is closed due to negative balance, please contact our collections department at 214-257-2740 for further review and options.
